There is something about a Labrador where you can’t help but smile when you see them. What is it about these dogs that makes them such a popular choice for families?

Why are Labradors so popular?

A lot of the popularity of the Labrador will, of course, come down to some of the traits mentioned below. However, there is also a bit of a snowball effect with the popularity of any breed. A dog can become well-loved, then more famous with a higher profile, then even more popular as people want one, and then appreciated on a wider scale.

This is a dog with a big heart. Let them into your life and give them your time and attention for just 5 minutes and they will be your friend. This is clear if you ever meet a stranger’s Labrador out in the park. They will be more than happy to invite you into their game. This also means that they should get along well with friends and family that come over to the home. They are also pretty good with other animals thanks to their patience and gentle nature.

4) Labradors love their owners.

While these dogs are going to be friends with pretty much anyone that is around and willing to play, there is a special level of devotion for their owners. Labradors are very loyal and driven to please their primary caregiver. This stems from their heritage as working dogs. They were bred to want to go out and retrieve fallen prey as often as they needed to. Labradors may develop a stronger bond with one family member than the others, but not by much, which leads nicely to the next reason.

Labradors are great dogs to have if you have children because they are so playful and attentive while also very patient and gentle. Labradors are the best kind of smart when it comes to dogs. Some breeds are bright but also sharp enough to give their owners the run-around when it comes to their behavior and training.
